Risks for Women Sitting More Than 6 Hours

A new study from the American Cancer Society researchers found that women, in particular, who sat for more than six hours a day during their free time to do activities, such as watching television, surfing the internet, and read-have higher death rates. Some studies even have shown no relationship between the duration of the long sit and obesity, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease risk factors, and unhealthy diet.

But the latest study, which surveyed 123,216 people over 13 years, found an association between the amount of time people spend sitting and their mortality rates. The study found that the more people spend their leisure time to sit down, the higher the risk of death, especially for women.

Further, the study found that women who sit for more than six hours a day during his spare time, 37 percent more likely to die during the study period than those who sit less than three hours a day. The results remain unchanged even when women also perform physical activity exercise in their daily aliases. However, lack of exercise plus the duration of the long sit make greater tendency died. Women who sit for longer and less physically active, as much as 94 percent more likely to die than those who sit at least and most active.

Alpha Patel, leader of the study, said that the duration of sitting long have important metabolic consequences that affect many things, such as cholesterol and blood pressure, associated with obesity, cardiovascular, and other chronic diseases.
